  • How Do I Apply?

    Your application should be submitted at a UK visa application centre, and must be submitted in person so that you can provide your biometric details. You must submit your application at the nearest visa application centre to where your family book is registered. Finally, take care over your application. To avoid unnecessary delay, please take all the documents relevant to your application to the UK visa application centre. We need to see originals of all documents with translations. The following are general guidelines as to how to submit an application;

    i. Complete a Visa Application Form (VAF).

    You can also apply online at Visa4UK which l provide instructions in English to guide you through the on line application process.
       
    ii Prepare your documentation
    Gather all the documentation that is required for your type of application. Please see the 'Checklist' page on this website.

    The following is a general checklist before submitting an application:

    General Checklist for Submission.
    1. Check if your name, father's name and mother's name is written in Pinyin and Chinese.
    2. Check if the CCC numbers are written below the Pinyin names.
    3. Check if your address is written in both Pinyin and in Chinese.
    4. Check if your photograph is 3.5CM 4.5CM, with a white background, as well as clear features, and taken within the last 6 months.
    5. Check if you have a photocopy of passport data page and signature page.
    6. Check if you are carrying originals of all required documents along with a photocopy.
    7. Check if you are carrying English translations of all original Chinese documents.
    8. Check if the passport has been signed by the applicant.
    9. Check if the visa application form is signed by the applicant.
    10. Check if you are carrying the visa fee (cash only).
    11. Check if the visa application form has been completed correctly.
    12. Ensure that the date on the visa application form is the same as date of submission.
    13. The UK Border Agency requires that there is at least 1 blank page on the passport, which must be back to back, clear on both sides of the page.
       
    iii Submit application
    Visit a visa application centre to submit a completed visa application form and supporting documentation, pay the relevant fee and submit your biometrics.

    Applications will only be accepted at the visa application centre if applicants:
    • present a signed, dated visa application form (VAF);
    • provide the required photographs;
    • provide passports (or other travel documents where specified by the UK Border Agency
       - for all applicants travelling to the UK;
       - which correspond to data in the visa application form (name, passport number, expiry date);
       - which have not expired;
       - which have at least one page free in the visa pages for the insertion of a vignette,
    • pay the published visa fee; and,
    • consent to have their biometrics data recorded.

    Highly Skilled Forum Judicial Review
    The recent High Court ruling in the UK resulting from the Highly Skilled Forum Judicial Review affects certain people who formerly had leave in the UK under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP).     Children applying for summer or winter Schools as child visitors. Children going on short courses such as winter or summer schools should be aware that the school must be:

    (i) the holder of a Sponsor Licence for Tier 4 of the points-based system, or
    (ii) accredited by a United Kingdom Border Agency approved accreditation body, or
    (iii) an independent fee paying school registered with the Department for Children, Schools and Families and which is outside the maintained sector.

    Applicants applying as student visitors. Applicants over 18 years of age going to the UK for courses of 6 months or less as a student visitor must be:

    (i) the holder of a Sponsor Licence for Tier 4 of the points- based system, or
    (ii) accredited by a UK Border Agency approved accreditation body, or
    (iii) an overseas Higher Education Institution offering only part of their programmes in the United Kingdom, holding their own national accreditation and offering programmes that are of an equivalent level to a United Kingdom degree.

  • Return delivery of passports
